Default Converting HD .mov files to AVI

When I do this I get lots of pixalation in my converted file. Is AVI a good choice for 720 HD?
I'm having lots of problems with Photoshop Premiere 7.0 (it's very slow and crashes allot)
I take lots of video in a HD .mov format.
Windows movie maker is so easy to use, but it doesn't read .mov files.

    any ideas?

    thanks

    Hi Erinnjan,

Which program are you using to do the conversions exactly?

AVI is just a container. Pixelation depends on the video codec you use and its settings such as bitrate.

What exactly do you want to do with your .MOV files? Why do you use .MOV files if you want to edit with Windows Movie Maker?
