Why can't I get a full recording?

I have been very frustrated with Freecorder Toolbar,either every time it updates or Firefox has an update. I can not get a full recording when I use the record button on the Freecorder 4 or 5 toolbar. And now on my computer that has Vista as an OS, and now Firefox 16, Freecorder 3 is not even functional. And I refuse to download Freecorder 6. I have downloaded 3 times, and every time, it is a nightmare on my computer. It is full of crap that I do not need. It seems that every time Freecorder has an update they are taking more of what made the toolbar a good one to have.i.e. the recording, the notification of your emails, and the radio player. Please tell me what I have to do to record from the toolbar 4 or 5, and not have the sound file break up into many different segments.. At least the 3 did not do this.
Very frustrated.
