Flash Player download being blocked(?)

Having installed the freecorder - an idea which I love! - I suddenly find any site I go to requesting that I download "player 9 or above".
IOn doing this I go back to any site-and same message comes up. "You need flashplayer 9 or above"! Stuck!!! Please advise!!! Thanks!
