Drive constantly spinning with speaker recording

I notice that when I record from my speakers to a WAV format, my hard drive constantly spins throughout the whole show. This doesn't occur when I record from a stream capture. Is this the way it should be. If not please advise.

Audio capture is very power intensive as it is using the resources from your system. This is probably what is causing this. Each system is different as to the power capabilities it has so some may do this more than others.
