Up front: I am a newbie...

Sofar I have been using the Freecoder Toolbar v4 and it is really nice.
For this reason I wanted to give the suite a chance and installed that on my 2nd
pc, which only has a clean Windows XP installed and Kaspersky Internet Security Suite.
This PC I use for testing.

I installed the Suite. Had to install .NET - okay.
Then I went to IMDB and clicked on a movie trailer.
Had to install Adobe Flash.. - okay.

Relaunched IE and RMC and selected the trail again.

Clicked on the record button and it started to record (upto 50%)
I was hoping RMC wud autodetect the trailer and start to save it automatically,
a bit like Freecorder so to say.

Well, seems another way of working I guess, first click record, then start the trail.

Went over to another movie (The Godfather), clicked on Record, then Watch Trail.
A .mp4 was downloaded, it took less than 10 seconds and nothing happened after
that, whilst the trail was playing on.
Nothing 'in progress', though the small button right top, was running in circles
and the big 'Record' button was red.
Trailer finished, nothing was captured.

Closed IE, closed RMC, started all over again, click record, click watch trailer, nothing.
Tried again, and again ...

Nothing.

After some 10 minutes of trying I gave up and removed the program.
Surely RMC is a great product, but regretfully I cannot judge, it did not work for me.
I must be doing something wrong, but I gave up trying to figure out what.
Bad luck.

Will stick to Freecoder.

Watch the same trail just now, FR recorded nicely...
Piece of cake.

p.s. the above I wrote using an external editor: the first time I wrote it, I was logged out,
so I had to re-write it from scratch.

tried this one a few times.
http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi3228698393/

as said
the mp4 was downloaded in maybe 10 seconds max but the trailer was still playing.

today I installed CCCP codec with built HMC to check out this file and it played the mp4.

Sorry, I didn't get it. Was it downloaded fully, but faster than in real time?

If you go to Settings -> HTTP Tweaks and add

http://progressive.totaleclips.com.edgesuite.net
MP4

RMC 4 will be capturing streams in real time as long as you play them. Otherwise it usually allows to download on-demand streams faster than in real time.

Sorry for the delay.

Yes, it seems (at least with IMDB) to download faster than realtime.

It downloads the full trail (mp4) whilst the trailer is just halfway playing.

See below.
(sorry the screen is a bit big)

When playing the file it is not cut halfway.

I think there are two processes going on. The mp4 is being downloaded - the trail is a bit shaky then, but after download everything is going smoothly.

After RMC has detected a stream URL, you can stop playing your stream (when RMC is in the downloading mode). If RMC is in the recording mode, you need to continue playing your stream up to the end.
