View Full Version : Replay Media Catcher 4.0 Can't Download Content From ADOBE TV

Although this site claims it can download videos, in reality it can only download ads, not the actual video content.
When I contacted Tech Support they kept insisting that they could download just fine.

Finally they attached one of the videos they "successfully" downloaded to an e-mail and sent it to me. It was an AD not the 17min training video.

Has anyone been able to downland real content from Adobe TV?

I have tried to download from Adobe TV. I downloaded an RTMP stream with RMC 4.10 without any problem. Any specific URLs you have problems with?

Unless I'm missing something, this policy still seems to be in effect:

RMC doesn't, indeed, support RTMPE streams, but the stream that I tried to watch was using RTMP protocol, and I didn't have any problem downloading it with RMC 4.

I have also recorded from Adobe TV without an issue. Please see if deleting your temp files makes a difference. Also, always start recording first and then go to what you want to capture.

Hi there,

Im ONLY able recording streams from tv.adobe.com only when setting RTMP streams instead of download.
Unfortuneately this takes much longer, because recording only takes place as long as the video is playing.

If setting to download it appears to stuck in"...sending create stream..."

I wonder RMC 3 is still recording without any problems

Any ideas?

I used rtmpdump.exe (v2.3) as a plug-in for Replay Media Catcher 4 for downloading from Adobe TV instead of using Real Time RTMP Recording mode:

My settings:

protocol: RTMP
URL match: cp48521.edgefcs.net
executable: rtmpdump.exe
parameters: -r "{url}" -o "{file}" --app "{app}" --flashVer "{flashVer}" --swfUrl "{swfUrl}" --tcUrl "{tcUrl}" --pageUrl "{pageUrl}" --playpath "{playPath}"

Thanks for the reply, stream-recorder.com, and sorry for starting another thread on this topic. I installed rtmpdump as a plugin for RMC, following your example, but I couldn't get it to work with Adobe TV. All the videos I tried to capture start with "edge.tv.adobe.com", so I tried substituting that term in the Url Match field. RMC detects the stream and starts, but soon terminates with the status "Complete with errors". Here's an example of what the Progress log reports:

Recording of rtmp://edge.tv.adobe.com:1935/ondemand<break>mp4:media/adobetv2/videos/2011-01-9/1806490e-ed1f-553c-b8d4-cb83a4761275.mp4

I have tried the Short and Suite - Color Finesse Workflow Primary Grading video from Adobe TV. I was able to download it with Replay Media Catcher 4 in the RTMP downloading mode (so I haven' tried to use rtmpdump on edge.tv.adobe.com)

Hmmm. Well, I'm at a loss to figure it out. You've obviously got it working. But when I try to download that exact same video, in the Replay Media Center 4 (trial version) RMTP downloading mode, it always gets stuck at the Sending createStream step. Here's what the Progress log shows:

Recording of rtmp://edge.tv.adobe.com:1935/ondemand<break>mp4:media/adobetv2/videos/2011-01-9/1806490e-ed1f-553c-b8d4-cb83a4761275.mp4

I got my son, who is a computer programmer and pretty savvy about these things, to give it a try using his system in a different city. He tried it with and without rtmpdump, but couldn't get it to download either. It's a puzzle.

What version were you using? RMC 4.1.1?

Yes, 4.1.1.

Hmmm... Please try to stop the stream in your browser as soon as it is detected by RMC and let me know how it is going.

OK, I did that, using both Firefox and Internet Explorer. As soon as RMC detected the stream, I closed the web page to stop the stream to the browser. RMC continued to process it until it got to that same spot "Sending createStream", where it got stuck again.

I don't know then... May be your firewall is blocking RMC, may be something else. If disabling your firewall/antivirus doesn't help, try to e-mail your logs to support:

I had already tried turning off firewalls and antivirus programs. I also just tried installing RCM and downloading from another computer in my house. Still no luck, so I submitted my logs and problem description to support, as you suggested. I really appreciate all your assistance.

Hi,

I have tested this site and was successful as well. This is a secure stream, in Replay Media Catcher tools, setting, RTMP download tweaks please select to "Always record RTMP streams (instead of downloading)". You will need to keep your browser open while the entire video downloads.

in "Recording Mode", RMC4 does record the stream (slowly). in the other modes, RMC4 gets stuck as stated by the original poster. the full url captured is:
rtmp://edge.tv.adobe.com:1935/ondemand<break>mp4:media/adobetv2/videos/2011-01-16/045ca65d-9c35-4326-6a06-027b63036b65.mp4

pretty harmless stuff.

Tell Adobe that they need to offer downloads. It is in their interest to let people learn how to use their products.
At least ask them to upload their videos to http://www.youtube.com/adobetv

Also you can use rtmpdump.exe as a plug-in to RMC 4 to download from Adobe TV faster than in real time.
