How I resolved this issue:
1. Restart (or Turn ON PC if OFF)
2. Deleted Applian folder from Program Files
3. Deleted Applian from registry (from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE)
4. Restart
5. Run Replay Media Catcher 4.09 installation again
6. Select Repair
7. After finishing Repair Uninstall Application
8. Restart

This worked for me.

I'm getting the same error. Has anyone found a simpler solution than the above? Surely Applian can explain this?

Hi,

Please try deleting the following folder, this will reset them to their defaults. Please note that you may need to turn on "hidden files and folders" in Windows in order to see this folder.

In Windows 7 or Windows Vista delete this folder:
C:/Users/yourusername/AppData/Local/Jaksta_Pty_Ltd

In Windows XP delete this folder:
C:/Documents and Settings/yourusername/Local Settings/Application Data/Jaksta_Pty_Ltd

Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat. A while back, I tried to install a trial version to no avail. When I tried to uninstall the trial version, I got the same error.

Then today, I purchased the software (forgot about the trial version a while back) and ran into the same issue.

I have Win7, 64bit... did the whole regedit thing and deleted the folders in the Appdata folders. still not working.

Tried. Failed. Fark.
Applian support sucks. I really wish they would help me/us, but I guess this crap software is going to have to stay on my PC--until I replace the PC--whether I like it or not. I'm extremely frustrated (just in case you couldn't tell, LOL ;)).

I had this problem, and I've come across a solution that works. It is, ironically, a combination of the first two solutions (No additional software necessary).

(As an aside to that last, I strongly recommend AVOIDING uninstall and registry tools; they are 'dumb' programs that have a tendency to completely bugger up your system shortcuts, as well as playing merry hell with other, more critical data)

Here's the steps:

1. Restart (or Turn ON PC if OFF)
2. Delete Applian folder from Program Files
3. Delete Applian from registry (from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE)

Step 4 is different depending on your OS:

In Windows 7 or Windows Vista delete this folder:
C:/Users/yourusername/AppData/Local/Jaksta_Pty_Ltd

In Windows XP delete this folder:
C:/Documents and Settings/yourusername/Local Settings/Application Data/Jaksta_Pty_Ltd

5. Run Replay Media Catcher 4.09 installation again
6. Select Repair
7. Now Replay Media Catcher will work, and you can uninstall if you choose, or you can leave it alone.
