Just purchased the Media Suite recently and was trying to download the episodes from syfy.com.

Now Media Catcher hangs on Identifing Music and will not continue to convert.

Please check it out and see if I am not the only one

Got http://www.syfy.com/rewind/ and select Warehouse 13 episodes.

It will connect to them and start the RTMP but it will hang on a commercial trying to identify the music. ??????

You will be left with a lot of files "Queued for Conversion"

Worked great before the .08 update.

Hey there - I was able to record this just fine - it worked on the netflix commercial AND the show itself. Do me a favor please, reboot RMC For me and try again. If the issue STILL continues, let us know

Thanks!

Rebooted and reloaded RMC4 again.

Same problem.

When selecting an episode, My system downloads the commercial. (IE Pantene_PA2). It then shows status Identifying Music as it moves to the real meat of the download. When the episode, named Syfy Rewind Syfy.flv finishes. It show Status as Queued for conversion. And stays there. I have tried to cancel the first but nothing happens.

Here is the last part of the progress file.

Identifying Music ...

This is where it stays forever. In the earlier version, Which I have reloaded back on my system. It shows the conversion happening and keeps me informed of its progress.

Also, When I tried to use the Replay Converter. I could have went out for a dining evening before it finished. The FLV was faster to download than convert.

Not looking good for the home team..... Sorry..... Will reload my CD again and try to get my files down. I am not impressed with the searches in the system.

Working to make my money count.

Getting the same problem but similar. It converts the file and stalls with "Identifying Music" which it's not.

Updated to latest version (4.0.9) and it stalls on "identifying music" or sometimes on "determining name from tags".

Have you tried it without converting? Let us know. Also, if the issue continues please submit a tech support ticket so it can be investigated. Thanks.

It makes the FLV files. I repeat.... It makes the FLV Files. When you or the system tries to convert them. It starts on the first one and says in the status line..... Identifying Music.......
Cannot Cancel Must use CTL/ALT/DEL to kill process.

I then used the Replay Converter. Took 9 hours for 16 files. Used a copy of 4.08....

Took 25 minutes....

Problem is in the update........

My Pappy said " If it Aint Broke, Don't Fix it.......
Ya'll Just made bloatware......

Needless to say, I'm sticking with 4.08......

Seeing the same with the tagging - I'm not converting, recording Pandora One - locks up with 50% processor, never seems to time out or complete (if recording is enabled.) If you stop recording, it eventually returns but nothing happens.

4.0.9.0, 64bit, Windows Vista

And, since you are using .NET for the application UI, wondering why you aren't using ClickOnce for application update management. A lot easier than having to run the install every time and you can still have full trust applications and/or custom prerequisites for the driver installs.

And while I am at it...

1. Instead of Windows Forms, if you used WPF you could skin and style it a lot nicer. ;)
2. Instead of the settings in the registry, you could extend your existing app.config to have user settings which would be stored in the local profile and not lost or reset (as some appear to be, specifically the storage directory) on upgrade.
3. The director uses a different registry path (Applian) than RMC (Applian Technologies)
4. I've seen outgoing messages (e-mail on Hotmail using the Outlook Connector, message forums and java chat applications) receive duplicate messages when RMC is recording. If I turn it off, the original single message is delivered - turn it on, it is duplicated.

I'll upload the logs with an example of the issue from my perspective (the tagging issue.)

I'd be interested if others experiencing tagging issues this weekend have observed them today?

I noted this in my ticket, but thought it would be good for the general public, that today I have had consistent success using build 4.0.9.0 - that might suggest that the tagging service that RMC uses (MusicDNS) maybe have had some issues.

Am having the same problem , no matter what the site I visit . A lot of files actually download (some which donīt can , funnily enough , be downloaded by the Firefox extension 'Download Helper') but conversion stalls with the message 'Identifying music' . Anyway , a bug to be fixed , no doubt .

I have purchased Media Catcher 4 just yesterday and have experienced the same bug. The program gets stuck with the task "Identifying Music". It is also impossible to cancel the conversion task and close the program. The only way to do this is to stop the process in Windows task manager. However, it seems that the bug is related to AVI conversion (from flv to avi). Have tried to convert flv into wmv, and it wored ok. At least that's what I have tried so far, did not test any other format conversion yet.

Mine gets so stuck on "Identifying Music" that I have to use Task Manager to close the application. When I re-open it will let me delete the music listing and keep the video, but it's too much work. Luckily I'm just using the demo and haven't spent any money yet. I'm going to wait till they fix this before I purchase it.

I found a work around. Click "Settings." Click "Download Settings." Disable "Automatically Identify and Tag Music." The video then downloads and converts without a hitch. I still need to experiment with audio sources, though.

Had about five days where it was working great - and the last few days it has either been totally failing (as reported in my bug) or sporadic. Same Task Manager, kill it, hanging around 50% CPU.

One difference to note, while I've received an empty dialog with "Unexpected Error" - in the last day or two I've had a few "Service Unavailable" messages (which has been my suspicion all along.) The code surrounding the tagging could be more robust and, at the expense of observing the conversion and tagging while recording, perhaps another tab representing the tagging queue that continues to process the files until the list is cleared or a proper result received from the MusicDNS (or whatever their new name is) service API indicates success.

Testing out 4.0.10 this morning (I apologize if I missed it, but it indicated I should see the release notes: but where are they?)

As to results (thus far):

* The settings were lost on upgrade
* First song didn't tag, everything since has been alright. When I retried the failed tag manually, it didn't jump to 50% CPU and hang, so, that's good. :) It did, however exhibit the same hanging behavior and require being killed by Task Manager about 15 minutes later. :(

Replay Media Catcher has been updated to version 4.0.10. Please update to the latest version to fix this issue.

I have bought version 4.0.10. and this "identifying music" bug is still happening. Trying to record and RTMP stream and at the end of the conversion it gets stuck @ "identifying music". No way to cancel it or exit without stopping the process on Task Manager. Please actually fix!!!

I'm experiencing the same issue mentioned in this thread as well. It will freeze when "identitying music" & when the conversion is left on avi. I just purchased the product this week. Also where in the tools can I attempt to update. I can't find that option in the tools at all.

I am having this problem as well. Running Windows 7. Weirdly, I cannot even kill the program using Task Manager. It's invisible, on both the applications and processes tabs. It's working - I can capture new video if I want to - but I can't get rid of the video that's hanging. I've tried canceling it, but it won't cancel.

Worse, when I try to close the program, it won't let me, saying I have to wait until the conversion finishes. I'm going to have to reboot or pull the plug to close this vampire program.

Did you both update to the latest version?

Did you both update to the latest version?

I had just purchased and downloaded the program when I posted my original comment. Presumably it was the most recent version.

It says it's version 4.0.12.0

I have updated also, and am currently experiencing the "Identifying Music" bug. I'll turn off the Automatic Identify/Tag Music option in settings in the meantime, but I'd appreciate it if this was fixed.

This is a problem with the Music DNS that we will have resolved in the next update. It usually occurs when converting to AVI. So if you can avoid that for the time being, you will not have a problem.

You can shut down Replay Media Catcher without restarting your computer. Open Task Manager, then go to the Processes tab. Highlight armcp.exe then click the End Process button. That will close Replay Media Catcher.

We're sorry for any inconvenience. The next update should be out soon.
