fastest way to copy DVD

I also have express burn and need the fastest way to copy DVD's. The user guide instructions for copying a DVD are confusing. They tell you to add the dvd and then begin burning, but you have to take the source DVD out to put the blank DVD in and then there is nothing in the machine to copy. I can convert the DVD to something like WMV and then burn a new DVD but it takes forever. How do I rip the DVD in its raw format to burn it back onto a blank disk. I want to burn multiple copies also.
