With version 4, it seems live streams cant be recorded fully anymore. It only records a couple of min or something and then stops.

Replay Media Catcher 4 works fine with RTMP streams from Justin TV and Ustream TV. I use the RTMP recording mode.

What web-sites exactly do you have problems with? Any links particular web-pages?

Hi there,

I am having the same problem recording from www.justin.tv/6brian6

6brian6 shows NASCAR racing and the races are 3 to 4 hours long so it is very annoying.

Do you know what settings I need to solve my problems?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Paul.

I'm having the same problem. I just purchased Media Catcher as I saw it being recommended for recording from Ustream, which is what I want to do. I tried both scheduled recording and just pressing the record button and letting it run, but it always stops after a couple of minutes or only seconds. This is the channel I'm trying to record:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ust-1

Yesterday I tried to record from another Ustream channel and was only able to record 1 minute snippets, but thought this was due to the demo restriction. Now that I have bought the full version it seems this is a problem with the software or settings. Any help would be very much appreciated as I need to record a 2+ hours long programme on 31 August. I'd be happy to downgrade to an older version if that solves my problem. Many thanks!

Edit: I think I got it to work. In Tools > Settings > RTMP Tweaks I selected "Always record RTMP streams (instead of downloading)" and then added the URL of the channel to the list of secure sites. So far I was able to record 1 hour and just started a 2nd test recording. The only way to stop recording seems to be to cancel, so instead of "completed" the status is "cancelled by user", but it looks like the file can be played normally.

I hope this will be of help to the other users in this thread who are having problems!

Edit 2: Just got kicked out of the 2nd test recording after 80 minutes. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

For this very reason, we recommend Replay Video Capture (http://applian.com/replay-video-capture/) to record from UStream.tv (http://www.applian.com/how-to-record-download-capture/ustream.tv.html) - give it a shot and let us know how it goes :)

Too late, I already bought Media Capture. Are you suggesting I should exchange it?

At your suggestion, I tried Replay Video Capture and I must admit the picture quality of the recording is better. However, after successfully capturing several 2 minute videos with the trial version yesterday, today I can no longer select the window I want to capture. It always auto selects full screen which cannot be adjusted because the markers are outside the visible screen area. I checked in Settings and the full screen option is NOT selected. I'm trying to capture from the same channel that I captured from yesterday and it also happens on every other website I try. The only thing I did between yesterday and today was to change my PC (Windows 7) system settings from best appearance to best performance, as recommended in the RVC Settings, and then change it back because it looked so ugly. I uninstalled and reinstalled RVC and rebooted my PC but to no avail. Any ideas what I could do? The programme I want to record is tomorrow morning (European time), so I would need to solve this problem tonight, if possible.

Many thanks!

Hey There

Try closing/restarting RVC - you should always be able to select the area to record, nothing disables that

If you're NOT able to still for some reason, try using the red/blue squares to manually select your area, then click ONCE inside the field to confirm that as the area you wish to record.

Let us know if this helps :)
