Erasing RW discs

I've downloaded the demo of Replay Music 3 prior to purchase. However when I try to burn onto a RW CD I get the error message 'CD is not blank unable to burn'. Do I always have to insert a blank disc or can the software be set to erase the disc first?

The program needs a blank disk. Frankly, we recommend that you do not use an RW but stick with the other. Thanks.
