Which file(s)?

I know this is a newbie question, but here goes. I'd like to convert some of my DVDs to iPod format. The first one I did was simple (a comedy performance, nothing fancy) - it only had 2 files on it and the converter worked like a charm. The next one I tried has 71 files that show up in the converter. I've let the program convert several of them and they all start at the beginning of the movie, but end in various places.

Is there any way to tell which file contains the "main" movie, so as not to waste time converting others?

Most of the time it is the largest file. If it isn't then I would check them out prior to converting to see.
