They have changed the way that they are streaming, and we are working at getting a fix in place. I understand this is frustrating, your patience is appreciated!

I've tested this quickly

i-player is now downloading again,but.......

Radio files are .flv not mp3 so you have to convert

Extract mp3 from flv works for video flv's but not the audio ones

The inbuilt converter fails (RCAT has encountered an error etc) on 1 hour shows - seems ok with 30 minute ones.

Replay Converter does it, but it's slow

File naming is really unhelpful - 'i-player radio console (1)-(2)-(3) etc

Great to have things working again, but this is hard work compared to the previous version.

A couple of suggestions

If the media has to be flv could we have an auto convert like Replay AV?

Could we be prompted to enter a file name/tag as recording starts so we could have sensible names ?

Hopeful

If you switch iPlayer to Dial-up mode it will stream RealAudio instead and this still works fine (with v 3.00) and is faster :) The converter converts this to .mp3, again with no problem.

Tasha, "fixed" implies that everything is working as before. I'm sorry but that's not the case. Previously when downloading Iplayer radio we had an mp3 file at the end of the process. Now we have a flv file, which is of no use as regards portability to other devices.

As the previous poster states you can use Replay Converter 3.30 to convert to mp3 but that's a separate and lengthy step. The flv file has an embedded aac file which is a portable format and which can be quickly and easily extracted using the flv extract utility (http://moitah.net/). Please could you give us this same functionality within RMC.

Thanks.

Replay Converter is the only program capable of converting these files. The reason you do not get an MP3 is because they are no longer streaming MP3s. Media Catcher can't capture in a format other than what they are streaming.

Tasha, you haven't read what I wrote. I know they are not streaming mp3, they are streaming aac. Many players and devices can play aac files. Converting flv to mp3 is slow, whilst extracting the aac from the flv is almost instantaneous. Why can you not offer us the option of the latter?

They are streaming MP4 wrapped in an flv. It is an flv file and it is not being converted. It's basically like a video file, but with audio only.

Hello Tasha,

I have downloaded the new version and installled it bit now getting:

Sorry, could only download a partial RTMP stream
Media was saved anyway:
E:\BBC Radio\RBN2_radio_4_fm_-_tuesday_2300_b00j7275_2009_03_25_00_12_00_11128E7 D.flv
Exception:
m_nErrType = 6
m_strDesc = "Connection was closed by remote host"
m_strFile = F:\proj32\TestRTMPClient\RTMPStreamRip.cpp
m_nLineNumber = 858

The media only plays first few second and then stop?

Regards Brian
