Hi There. RMC (5) is catching streams from Google Music's new streaming service (All Access), but it is downloading around 10 individual mp3s for each song, often out of order. I can merge them manually using a program I found called mp3merge, but this is tedious, and since it downloads them out of order I often have to spend a large amount of time reordering the pieces by ear, and no song information is grabbed so I have to do all of that by hand as well.

What can I do to improve this experience?

Hey -

Thats just how All access streams - multiple downloads make up one song. RMC is doing what it supposed to and detecting the downloads - one song has been split into multiple parts.

For most music sites though your better off using RMC's built in audio recorder especially if your listening to the music at the same time as you want to record it.

The audio recorder takes its audio stream directly from the application that is playing it - no stereo mix happens - you dont get any other applications sound in the recording.

If some one rings you on skype whilst your recording you dont get any of that in the recording. If you get an email and have a little chime set to notify you - nope that doesnt get recorded either.

Of course you can record skype if you want to or your little email chime as well if you want to! They just appears as another recording.

Infact if your keen you can play multiple audio at once and all will be recorded independently of each other - despite it coming though your speakers stereo mixed.

Some argue that audio recording is not the same quality as downloading directly - thats crap!

The audio recording is captured at exactly the same quality as what the application plays it at.

So say you are getting Spotify downloads at ~320k.

Well Spotify (the app) plays back at that quality as well - what you hear is everything to do with your sound card and/or speakers (if they are poor then they adjust it - Spotify (the app) doesnt)

Because RMC audio recording captures from the app as its playing it is also capturing at that quality.

By default though it does saved captured streams as 128/mp3. You can change that in the settings though to 320/mp3 if you want.

Also the automatic tagging/naming works very well.
