why do we have to record in real time? why can't we stream music to record so it doesn't take hours?

This program is a music recorder. It is not set up to capture the files from the stream itself. Depending on what you are wanting to record from you might want to try Replay AV as it will record from the stream in the majority of the cases. It will not split and tag the music, however.
