Default Why is Replay Telecorder Recording audio in AVI, and not mp3?

So, I finally had the chance to use this for Skype. I was shocked to see the default was to record both video and audio. Eh, no matter right? I just changed to set to record audio only. But it records in an AVI file for that too? Is there a setting I am missing where you can choose to not record in AVI when you are just sound? Any reason why it is AVI and not mp3?

Yes, please, please. That seems silly to have it record audio in AVI
