Can you give us the law the congress creatures passed or the FCC or what? That would be interesting too. Thanks

It is illegal (that is, a violation of law punishable by criminal penalties, specifically the Digital Millenium Copyright Act) for Applian to write and provide software that will perform unauthorized decryption of an encrypted audio or video stream. My guess is that the programmers there are capable of it, but are constrained by the legal department from making this software available. Please read their legal faq for their position on this. (And perform a web search for "Applian and Adobe" to get an overview on the last time an Applian application decrypted a secure RTMP stream.)

IMNAL, so I strongly urge you to pay an attorney versed in this area of the law for a definitive opinion, but you can't fault Applian for trying to work around the issue by recording the already-decrypted analog instead of decrypting the stream. I don't like it any more than you do (probably a good bit less, since there are already alternate sources for HooHoo's channel but not for the less juvenile original programming), but there it is. We're stuck with what Applian can do given their legal restraints, unless someone here is able and willing to intentionally violate the DMCA by writing their own stream decrypter.

If you want to blame anyone, blame the congresscritters who are in the pockets of big media and passed such a consumer-unfriendly law.

I did. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act, passed and signed in 1998.

    This works fine for me

It worked but when the replay tuner box brought up sirius log in it gave me that error and it won't let me log onto the sirius player.

I must be missing something with the instructions here. Where do you drag the url to? Do I click on the "Open Recording Wizard" first? What do I select from there? Can you give us a step by step guide? Thanks.

Does anyone know how smartphone apps access the online streams? I have the iPhone app and it hasn't been updated. Maybe the way they access the streams can be of use...

Does anyone know if the new Sirius player times out after an hour if it's left unnattended? I've been making it a point to pause and restart the player at every commercial break. But I can't do that at work.

Yes after 1 hour and 30 minutes it asks you if you are still listening and you have to click yes to keep it running.

I have been using the application from xmtuner.net (which was fixed Saturday) - it has been running for 24+ hours with no need to log back in - the application can be set up as a server and you can point Windows Media Player at it and listen away - you can also use it as a stand alone player (but I haven't tested that to see if it times out). I also use it in conjunction with ORB to stream to my blackberry (not a big fan of the XM blackberry app).

I paid for replayAV just so I could record a couple favorite shows off XM when my old solution to record the streams stopped working last year - the solution listed so far in this thread can be done using any app so I am really hopeful that we get a 'real' fix soon!

Well, still no solution and as I miss shows that would have recorded, I need to find another source.

Does anyone know if either siriusxmstreamer or xmtuner.net or any other app support time shifted recording without having to login manually?
