Default Freecorder worked great, now broken, can't reinstall

I used Freecorder for about a week to capture video streams. Then today I tried to capture audio and got an error message that it couldn't find lame. I double checked that the most recent version of lame is installed in my Common Files folder. Decided to re-install Freecorder in hopes it would find lame during install. Removed Freecorder from the Add-ons. Went to applian site and downloaded installer again. Tried to run it. It said I was already using a newer version. Looked in Add-ons, it wasn't there. Looked in Add/Remove programs and found two entries: Freecorder 4.02 Application and Freecorder Toolbar. Was able to remove the toolbar but the application refuses to uninstall. What do I do now? I need to clean out the old install, find the most recent Freecorder and install that. I'm stuck.
