Default Transfer Real Media Catcher to DVD

I caught a show that I want to use part of in a presentation. I copied it to a DVD but it won't play on the TV. So I guess it is "operator error" since I have done it before. I guess I did not save it in the correct format.

Please tell me what I should do. The link for the show is http://www.pbs.org/now/shows/348/index.html Thanks, the last time I did this was in 2006. Susi

Hi Susi, what format did the file record in? You want to make sure it's compatible with your dvd player...which generally means mpeg-2 or mpeg-4 format is what you want to be burning to dvd. If it's NOT mpeg-4 format, you would want to use Replay Converter to convert to mpeg-4, (and of course make sure your dvd player supports that format).

    I hope this helps!

I did convert it to AVI mpeg4 but then when I tried to burn it to a DVD it said it did not recognize the format.

I think I used the converter and it asks for audio or video. I want both. Do I have to do it two times? Susi

    Hi Susi,

Actually the native format for DVDs is MPEG-2 and not MPEG-4. So, your AVI file will first need to be converted to MPEG-2 before it can be burned to DVD. Some DVD burning programs will do that for you and some will not. Our product, Replay Converter 3.0 beta version, http://www.applian.com/files/RCSetup300.exe should be able to convert your AVI file and burn it to DVD.

We are thinking of adding Replay Converter with Media Catcher, so you will be able to do all this automatically.

    Regards,

That is a wonderful Idea to put the converter and RMC together.

Actually intergrating your programs together in general is a good idea instead of having to remember which program does which. If you had just a central menu system that would help also.

I did finally get the show converted to a DVD and it works. So thank you but what I was getting from Nero to burn the DVD was that the AVI file was not recognizable. I actually had to change the extension myself and then it did finally work. Susi

My vote is YES to add Replay Converter 3 within Replay Media Catcher. If needed please let me check it for accessibility with the JAWS screen reader for the blind. Thank you very much Mike!
