The two programs do have some overlap but they also record different formats. Often if one of the programs doesn't work for you then the other one does. Replay AV is great for radio stations. You are able to schedule a recording and as long as your system is on it will capture without you being there. It comes with Replay Converter so it also allows you to convert your files to different formats. Replay Media Catcher works great with YouTube, Google video, Pandora, NBC, and CBS formats among many. It does not allow a schedule so you need to start the program. I use both every day for different items that I wish to capture. The best thing for you to do is give them a try and see what is going to work for you.

For replay media catcher you need to actually open your browser and navigate to a specific web page and select a video, song or stream to capture.

With Replay A/V you can schedule the program to go out and capture a specific stream. For example there might be a audio or video podcasts you like to listen to or watch. You can configure A/V to automaticially go out to that site every day, once a week, once a month, etc. and Automaticially capture the PodCasts.

It can be a bit finickey in that you cannot setup A/V to, say, automatically capture all the new videos on AOL or Yahoo as you have to provide it a direct link. You can also set it to record things like XM Satellite shows so if your an old time radio fan you can set it to capture the old "The Shadow" radio shows on XM. Or you can set it to record specific WEB Casts TV stations or Radio Stations.

If you don't already have it I think there is a Demo verison you can play with. Once you start looking at some of the features you will quickly get the hang of it.
