Recording shorter than file

Any help on this one , everytime i come to record something it is always 5-6seconds shorter than the song playing yes the volume goes down as though it`s ending etc but say the track is 5:34 long i can record it and its 5:28 etc what do i have to do to get replay to record the full length of the song etc.

I think you have to go to settings ,than the tab splitting ,and than pull back the volume level cut of to 500 or lower.
