Cool "Record Audio" Crashes Windows Explorer Always

    Browser: IE 8
    System Win XP SP3

The video programs seem to work just fine.

But . . . every time I click the "Record Audio" button it crashes Windows Explorer. NOT Internet Explorer.

Immediately after I click OK on the Explorer crashed alert, the "Record Audio" screen appears. Then Win Explorer
    reloads.

Of course every time that happens every program I have open crashes as well.

When the "Record Audow" little meter window is open it appears to be recording.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this crashing explorer problem?

Is there a possibility it may not happen in FireFox? I hate to put anything else on FireFox because I use if for business and it has a lot of plugins as it is.

    Frustrated . . .

I would recommend using Firefox. If you do not have Firefox, installing it will be the easiest work around. There have been recent security updates from Microsoft within XP that have caused compatibility issues with Freecorder/Ask & Record Toolbar.

Thumbs down Re: "Record Audio" Crashes Windows Explorer Always

Firefox won'tmake a difference. Even invoking the programs directly causes the Windows Explorer crash.

Then gabahey are you experiencing the same problem?

Considering your reply I'm just curious.

I have not had any complaints of crashes with people using the toolbar under Firefox unless they have IE open at the time. You cannot have IE open.

    Hi Tasha,

    Thank you for your reply.

I will give it a try. I guess I could disable certain "Add On/Plug In" programs in FireFox when I'm using FreeCorder.

Since from your answer: "You cannot have IE open"

. . . if FreeCorder is first un-installed and then re-installed on FireFox only, do you think I could then have FireFox open running FreeCorder and IE open without FreeCorder toolbar installed in IE?

I have the need to have both open as FireFox is faster and easier to use than IE 8, but when copying data tables to paste into M/S office documents, obviously I can use IE to paste the data just as it appear on the web page I'm copying from. FireFox will not do that.

So I often have the need to have both browsers open. What do you recommend? Un-install then re-install in FireFox Only . . . OR . . . just never have IE open when running FreeCorder period?

I'm looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks,

    Mike

You cannot have IE open while Freecorder is running. Installing only in Firefox will not affect this.

Thanks for chiming in on this Tasha. Good to finally hear from someone in the Know.

Oh Well - Just another failing of Microsoft IE compatibility. Or maybe it's XP.
I don't see a whole lot of complaints in here about issues with FreeCorder
    that are running Windows 7.

OK then. FireFox only it is.

I have the same exact problem using Internet Explorer 8 with Windows XP. Are you going to fix this problem? Using Firefox is not a reasonable fix as far as I am concerned.

    Way to tell'm thunderthud.

And now that I've upgraded to FireFox 3.6 (Just last night) I'm even more apprehensive about putting FreeCorder on FireFox.

    Oh well; life is gamble
