Default Replay AV 8.5 doesn't save file

I've been having two problems lately that stop me from recording audio I hear from the sound card. I've been using this to record 3 or 4 hour programs from streaming terrestrial radio. First, sometimes I have to play with the User Account Control (on or off) to get it to record anything. With it on, it will not record. With it off, it does, but not always. Sometimes toggling between off and on works. Second, quite often at the end of recording 'what you hear' the file created does not save and the application goes into a non responsive state (application not responding) and will not save or create the mp3 file I expected. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel T8300/2.4 Ghz processor with 4 G Ram.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Have you tried the free update to the most recent version from the applian site? It helped me.
