Default Video choppy with .wmv format

When I try to record a streaming video in the .wmv format, the video becomes choppy after about 20 or 30 minutes. This does not happen when I record a DVD, only a streaming video.

I am using Windows Vista. RVC version 4.1. I have an Intel Duo Core @ 2.40GHz with 4.00 GB of RAM

Try to use MPEG-2 codec instead.

Yeah, the MPEG format works fine. I was just wondering why the wmv format gets choppy with Netflix and not any other media. I liked using wmv better because the file sizes are generally smaller then MPEG.

    Thanks.

WMV is more resource intensive. Take a look at your CPU and memory usage while recording ans see whether you need a more powerful computer for that.

I usually record into MPEG-2 with high bit-rate and then recompress using x264 (MPEG-4 AVC) or xvid (MPEG-4 ASP).
