Default Can't get source file length

I am trying to get a large asf file down to a reasonable length to put on a DVD. After inputting the file I get the message "Can't get source file length." After clicking OK and trying to index the file the message is "Indexing process can't be completed." So ends the effort. Is it trying to tell me the file is too large? If so, what is the maximum asf file Splitter can process? If not, how do I get around the actions which causes the error messages?

The program does not have size constraints but it could be that your system is not powerful enought to handle processing a large file. How big is the file.

File length was quite big - 13 GB using XP.
