My Freecorder no longer records music...

I am new to the forum so I had to find someone that knows more about the Freecorder toolbar. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to a small problem I am having. I can hear audio when I attempt to record from my pc however, the sound is nothing like the music that I play. It resembles the sound of a machine gun rather than music. I have changed the audio recording configurations several times checking the 1st box,
2nd, and 3rd and some at the same time. It either shows a thick blue line with consistent blurry waves (usually not in sync with the music) or it is flat with no movement. I have even uninstalled and re-installed as well as downloaded new Ask & Record. It didn't even allow me to open a toolbar to start the program. What do you suggest? It actually worked just fine when I initially installed it 2 months ago.
