Default Won't convert to mp3 - says converter version already running

I've finally got to successfully record my radio show... it records in *.flv file format. I need MP3 and have spec'd that in the scheduled recording. AV does not convert and when I try to do so manually I get the message that a replay converter is already running.
I've already manually shut down converter in vista task manager and tried manually converting... say this will run in background but again - nothing happens (file size is only 2.6 meg)
