Default No longer records MP3 at higher bitrates

Freecorder was working at all bitrates for MP3 up to 320 kbits/sec. Between recording one song and the next it stopped working for bitrates above 160kbits/sec. I've tried it on songs that I previously recorded at 320 - no luck.

It appears to work at all rates for WAV settings and MP3 rates under 160kbits/sec.

For bit rates above 160 the pop up Freecorder window shows a flat line. A temp directory appears in the MyRecordings directory but disappears when the stop button on Freecorder is pressed.

I've uninstalled and re-installed Freecorder, rebooted, but I can no longer get the toolbar to work for rates above 160kbits/sec.

This is true regardless of using it in Firefox 3, IE 7 or from the interface on the folders in windows (XP Pro SP 3).

Any idea what changed and how I change it back?
