Default Media Catcher 5 is not capturing YouTube Videos .

Media Catcher 5 is not capturing YouTube Videos when using Chrome on my Windows 7 laptop. It works just fine with Firefox. Do I need to change something with Chrome?

Sorry to hear you're having this issue - Please use the technical support section of the website to submit your tech support ticket - the RMC team should be able to be more specific in assisting you with this issue

I'm having the same problem. I assume it's because in Chrome now, for some reason, I can only play https streams. If I change it to http, it still loads it as https. In Firefox, it stays as http and RMC downloads it with no problem.

I did as you suggested and contacted tech support. Got an answer the same day suggesting that I download the most current version of RMC5 and in settings, http adv, youtube, make sure it is set to raw.

When you raise a tech support request you have to state what version of RMC you have. So why ask the same question twice? My submission shows that I have the latest version. As for setting it to 'raw'. This too was already set. I emailed back straight away and twice since, but received no reply, that was a week ago. Have tech support gone on a much needed holiday?

Same deal with me. RMC was functioning perfectly capturing all You Tube. Now it's not doing it. Mine is set to "raw" also. Can't you give us an answer to this problem, tech support?

Also set up according to the specs, and not able to capture even a single video - anywhere.

Well, after dealing with Jeff Wilson at Tier 2 Tech Support at Applian for the better part of a week and about 10 emails RMC still won't capture YouTube videos. After going through every gyration known to modern man and trying this and that it was finally determined that RMC would not capture any vidoes on an https: site. Well, it seems to me it used to. After so many emails I truthfully became weary and just gave up. Occasionally, I can get RMC to capture a video but it a rarity. My position is that Applian needs to fix their software so it will capture an https: video and not put it off on the end user to fix their problem. But, that's just my take. Maybe on the next version after v5.1.0.24 RMC will return to a useful piece of software. You can still capture other stuff. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Not really happy at the moment but in Jeff's defense he was really polite and timely in working with me. Thanks, Jeff.

RMC 5 cannot capture HTTPS streams as they are encrypted. So anything source that uses HTTPS will not work with RMC 5.

Correct - For encrypted files such as this, you'll want to use Replay Video Capture, which is a SCREEN capture program we offer that records what it sees on your screen - regardless of the file type.

IF you haven't yet, please check it out here: http://applian.com/replay-video-capture/

    Thank you for your understanding,

I was having the same problem, using Chrome. I don't know if this will help anyone else, but after reading this thread I copied the YT URL in Chrome, removed the "s" in the https and then pasted it into FireFox. RMC then downloaded the video. For some reason, Chrome would not let me paste this changed URL in but would redirect it back to the https location.

It's a bit annoying and I hope something can fix it, but in the meantime this does work - at least for me.
