Default MP4 video plays in VLC but freezes Converter on Win 8.1

The video plays fine in VLC on Win8.1. However, Converter (4.40) freezes at 0% when I attempt to convert the file to audio mp3. There's nothing significant in the log file.

On WinXP with the same mp4 I initially got the following, but after reinstalling Converter the conversion completed successfully:
Thu Jan 2 3:38:11 PM Replay Converter version 4.10 03-23-2011
Thu Jan 2 3:38:11 PM Operating system = Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

You are not using the latest version of Replay Converter. Please do update to it. Then give it a try. Contact tech support with details and a log file if you continue to have an issue. Thanks.
