Default Most plug-in updates fail for me. RMC will not record anything.

RMC would only record a few things, but not most things and all the plug-in updates were failing. I got so frustrated by this, I restored my 5 month old computer back to factory settings. I am running Vista on an HP pavillion on a high speed cable connection with no proxy issues. I was running flash 9 but am now running flash 10 after reading that RMC had been updated. Now when I re-install RMC, even more plug-in updates fail than before!! I am running AVG antivirus, which I even disabled trying to get the plug-ins to update correctly and now RMC will not record ANYTHING at all.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing on my laptop on which I run xp professional and 4 updates failed on that machine as well. It's a Dell Latitude.

Here is the info on the version RMC:

I am quite upset over this. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I have re-booted, shut down, and shut down and unplugged the power in attempts to do anything to get this to work.
