Cannot get Trim to work.

I am new to all of the programs. I made a video with the Replay Media Catcher and saved as an AVI file. I then tried to cut the video down with a marker in the beginning and another near the end. I then made sure the part I wanted was highlighted and hit the Trim button. The program then seems to indicate that the new shorter video is being saved. But there is no real change in the video. Why won't it trim the video I selected??

You need to have a mark at the beginning and end of each section. Then for each section select thumb up or thumb down. Now, select trim. If you continue to have a problem contact tech support with details.

I did as you said (I was not previously using the thumbs up) but still is not saving the edit. In addition, the copy video is choppy and not smooth like the original. Why? Should I still contact the tech folks?
