Can't donwload swf stream
I've been trying to download the Olympics but eveyr time i tried the catcher only donwloads a 1.7mb part and says its completed it.
:(
any ideas?
*i tried the option save instead of downloading but I do not think it's finding the right video address.
Re: Can't donwload swf stream
Yep, I'm trying the same thing.
This is very frustrating.
Replay Media Catcher isn't recording it.
Re: Can't donwload swf stream
i even tried tigerripper but nothing. The address of the stream is hidden and media catcher cannot find it, it is under a bunch of .flv files all of them individually thrown at you so you do not not know which one is which.
I tried finding the media from firefox and find the media address but it is hidden under a swf file.
I am not sure what benefit they get from blocking their address other than people not watching the olympics.
:-(
Re: Can't donwload swf stream
Specifically, Can you please provide me with the URL of the audio or video you're trying to record, so I can trouble shoot the issue?

BTW to watch them you'll first need to prove you have cable,
once that's done you can click on the address and watch the video (through youtube).
THank you for your help
Re: Can't donwload swf stream
This is confusing having two threads on the same issue, I'm tempted to close one and just have the other open
In fact, I think I will-
I was NOT able to record these streams, am checking with the programmer on this now - stay tuned!
Re: Can't donwload swf stream
I read about this on another forum ..........
The reason you can't capture the NBC live stream or replays is because it isn't a rtmp stream. It's I believe MPEG-TS (MPEG transport stream) that downloads a live or replay stream in segments of small files. In NBC's case - IPTV. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG_transport_stream
Here's an example of one those segments I got from NBC through Opera Dragonfly (Developer Tools):

This segment is about 637KB. Segments vary in size and aren't necessarily sequential.
I hope that answers your questions!

I was the one that opened the other thread and it is fine by me that you closed it. Thanks for continuing to look into this.
Until there is a solution I did notice that the highlight video clips here, http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/bro...t&vx=grid&px=1, will download through RMC4. Not quite the same thing as the full replays and live videos, but people may find what they are looking for.
Re: Can't donwload swf stream
yeah highlights are not what i was looking for.
It is obviously, now, that the streaming is a MPEG-2 transport stream, which i guess it's done for satellite reliability. Hopefully soon the software engineer can come up with a fix as I hev yet to see a MPEG stream decoder.
Re: Can't donwload swf stream
I assume they're using this tricky protocol for streaming w/ adaptive/dynamic bitrates to mobile devices (iPad, etc.), rather than for preventing people from ripping the streams. Also, while watching a live event on NBCOlympics, I noticed that the stream had both English and Spanish audio tracks (selectable).
Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming (HDS) <-- What we're dealing with, right?
http://www.overdigital.com/2011/12/2...u-should-care/
"HDS stands for HTTP Dynamic Streaming and is Adobe’s format to deliver fragmented mp4 files (fMP4). HDS uses MPEG-4 Part 14 and Part 12."
As I suggested in my previous post (in a locked topic), would it be possible to use AdobeHDS.php as a plug-in in Jaksta/RMC?
https://github.com/K-S-V/Scripts/wiki/
"AdobeHDS is a php script to join HDS fragments into flv file. you can either use manifest switch or use any download manager with batch capabilities to download the fragments."

I upgraded my Jaksta (from v3 to v4+) yesterday in hopes of being able to get the Olympic events, so I hope this gets remedied before the Olympic Games are over...
