Need to control start of recording

When using Freecorder 4 to record audio streaming from the web, recording starts immediately the audio recording window detects an audio signal. What I want to do is to control the start of the audio recording so that it starts recording when I want it to and not before. Pause and resume would also be handy. Any ideas, anyone?

I do not use Freecorder any more. It begins recording as soon as a stream is detected. I use to have to edit the resulting file.
