Capturing from YouTube, Facebook or other sites with HTTPS URL's
Not capturing from YouTube or Facebook or addresses that start with https?
Replay Media Catcher is unable to see https streams on the network as they are encrypted.
Therefore make sure your not using https at the start of the address.
For example, in your browser you'll want to change a URL that looks like this: to this:
Facebook is now defaulting to https. You can change this in your facebook settings. Login to facebook and go to Settings > Account Settings > Security. Then disable Secure Browsing.

Re: Capturing from YouTube, Facebook or other sites with HTTPS URL's
That fixed it for me - but I have also noticed that sometimes you have to wait for an entire video to preload before it will start downloading, so sometimes it looks like it isn't working.

Re: Capturing from YouTube, Facebook or other sites with HTTPS URL's
I have had repeated problems with RMC5 trying to capture YouTube and news media videos. Sometimes, if Firefox did not work, I could use IE9. Now, even http YouTube does not record and IE history never shows a video. Fortunately, I still had a download of Version 445. I installed that and it worked flawlessly in Firefox and IE. I could see all my videos in cache as well. Not sure what you did in Version 5.x, but it broke everything for me. At least I am running with 445. I've been using RMC since version 3.

YouTube is now defaulting and forcing https even if you change it. What is Applian's workaround for this?
RMC 5.0.1.54

Re: Capturing from YouTube, Facebook or other sites with HTTPS URL's
Your version of Media Catcher will not work with YouTube due to changes such as this. Our version 6 works great. We have updated it twice in the last two weeks due to changes in YouTube. Give it a try.

Re: Capturing from YouTube, Facebook or other sites with HTTPS URL's
Thanks but unfortunately all of the Applian apps are failing to perform their intended service:
- Video Capture cannot capture selected screen and tries to grab a screen 3x bugger than TV... onging issue I have reported with Tech Support a couple of times over the last couple of years
- Bit Torrent client quit working when your provider changed addresses and Applian's answer when I contacted them was essentially "Oh well, the torrent client will no longer work" like changing to a new provider was not an option?1?
I'm not going to keep upgrading in hopes that it works, as I have seen the other messages on this board where people report that it fails to work.
Thanks Anyway,
Raptor

If you change your mind let us know. Programs and streams change all the time. The developers constantly update or upgrade the programs to address these issues. Unfortunately some things are out of our hands.

Re: Capturing from YouTube, Facebook or other sites with HTTPS URL's
I did change my mind and upgraded to the Replay suite 6.x last week. Eating my own words now as the product is doing very well recording https sites and I like the new DVR feature. I have some issues/questions with the DVR feature but I will address them in a separate comment.
In addition I would like to say that You have always been helpful on this forum Cheryl and please accept my apologies if my response to you was offensive or mean spirited.
Thanks,

Re: Capturing from YouTube, Facebook or other sites with HTTPS URL's
I tested this using our latest version of Replay Media Catcher and it worked great. I opened our program. Selected AUTO and THEN I went to the browser and opened the link. I have mine set to prompt and it did ask me what format-I chose .flv and it captured without an issue. I used Internet Explorer as my browser. There have been a lot of changes in technology so you might want to upgrade. Go to the upgrade page and follow the prompts for the great deals there are available for you.
