Re: https:// sites blocked when using Firefox
@Cheryl,
I had asked questions about the Firefox "https" Certificate in my ticket (#55658), but I didn't get an answer to these either. Can you please respond here:
I tried to find the Applian certificate in the Firefox certificate “store”, but I don’t know its name. What do you call it?
Also, where is it stored on the PC (path)? Would this certificate be applicable to all Firefox installations and profiles? For example, on my 1st PC, I have several versions of Firefox and Palemoon (which is based on the Firefox engine) installed. All Firefox version, that I have tested, and Palemoon have the https issue.
Re: https:// sites blocked when using Firefox
Your ticket has been sent to the developer to look at. When you reply prior to him responding it puts your ticket at the bottom as he responds in the order of the tickets. It often does take time to investigate an issue. Thanks.
Re: https:// sites blocked when using Firefox
@Cheryl,
After a lot of trouble shooting I finally solved the issue myself!
There is a "bug" in RMC v6 (and probably also v7)!!
Please forward the following to the developer so that he can fix it.
I am using a separate drive (drive D) for all my data including the Firefox Profiles.
When RMC is installing the Firefox HTTPS Monitor, it installs the RMC security certificates in all the Firefox profiles but ONLY at the default location on drive C (Path : C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\ Profiles\ProfileNames).
Because all my profiles are on drive D, the security certificate is not installed, and this causes the security error when going to https sites.
Here is a workaround until the developer fixes this bug:
1. Close Firefox.
2. Create a dummy profile, "dummy" at the default location on drive C (using Firefox profile manager)
3. Copy (and overwrite) the files cert8.db and key3.db from the "real" Firefox profile on Drive D to the dummy profile on Drive C.
4. In RMC, reinstall the Firefox HTTPS Monitor.
5. Rename the cert8.db and key3.db in the "real" Firefox profile on Drive D.
6. Copy the cert8.db and key3.db files from the dummy profile to the "real" Firefox profile.
The RMC security certificates have now been added to the "real" Firefox profile.
RMC in AUTO mode now works fine with Firefox. No security warnings and files (e.g. youtube) are downloaded :o!
p.s. For the Developer: In order to add the certificates to Firefox profiles at non-standard locations, it may be necessary for RMC to look at the existing profile locations as used by Firefox Profile manager. I believe that these locations are stored here:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\ profiles.ini

What is the status of this fix? Has it been implemented yet?
Re: https:// sites blocked when using Firefox
Your info was passed on to the developer. We do have an update that works great so give it a try and see if it meets your needs. Thanks.
Re: https:// sites blocked when using Firefox
That's all well and good. However many of do use and prefer Firefox and have this same issue. So do you think you might find a solution for us rather then suggest another browser?
Re: https:// sites blocked when using Firefox
Same issue running RMV and Rvc on a Macbook. and the forum does need these details because until you have the issue resolved, people need to know that there is a problem.
Re: https:// sites blocked when using Firefox
Not everyone has the same issues. Each computer is different. Concerns are passed on and investigated. Thanks.
