After HD failure and restore, using the same password, but maybe not the same file location, no locked files are listed in Video Padlock. I cannot drag and drop the locked files into VP. Any suggestions?

I assume you are using the same password, in which case try running Video Padlock in admin mode by right clicking the VPL icon and selecting “Run as Administrator”. This will eliminate any permission issues.

Unfortunately, if you don't have your password, there is no way to recover your files.

Subsequently if all else fails and you are unable to run video padlock because you have forgotten the password you can run:

http://www.applian.com/clear-code.php

You can then reboot your computer. When you open up the program it will ask you if you want to activate the program. Take it from there; but of course it will not bring back your previously encrypted files. Try always to keep your files backed up in a different medium in case of future HD breakdown.

1. I am using the same password.
2. Running as administrator has the same result: . . . using the same password, but maybe not the same file location, no locked files are listed in Video Padlock. I cannot drag and drop the locked files into VP.

I had the files backed up. That was why I was able to restore them.

"no locked files are listed in Video Padlock"
That means there are no files locked.

"I cannot drag and drop the locked files into VP. Any suggestions?"
Correct. So you will have to begin again adding to VP the files you wish to lock.

I have the same problem. There are LCK files on my drive, but they are not listed in Video Padlock.

How do I decrypt them?

You must have made the files invisible. You need to open Video Padlock. If it is running in invisible mode, press together the following keys: ctrl + alt + caps + F that will reveal the Video Padlock Password window, then enter your password. The utility will open and you will then be able to make files visible and allow them to be opened etc.

I held the keys: ctrl + alt + caps + F down at the same time and nothing happened. I tried all combinations of those keys and still nothing.

OK.
Hold Alt + Ctrl + Upper case all at the same time, simultaneously, then press the F key.
That should open Video Padlock to invite you to enter your password.

I have locked files. I am able to enter the password. I can see the locked files using Windows Explorer. I cannot see the files in VP.

Are you having an issue with viewing files you encrypt?
