CBC Radio: Can Record PLS stream but not Tune it

After updating the CBC Radio URLs to the new PLS steams, I find that Replay A/V (8.83) will record the new streams, but not tune to them.

When I select Tune to Station for the PLS streams I get the Replay Tuner window with working controls, but there is no audio. This is just a problem with PLS streams -- if I replace the PLS URL with one of the streaming URLs referenced in the PLS file, tuning works fine with audio coming from WMP.

So why can I record a PLS stream not not tune to it?
