Extended title search

Can anyone tell me what exactly is "extended title search"? If it is sending data to the web, can it be disabled? Thanks.

It doesn't seem to send data to the web:

Extended title search is an algorithm that tries to detect the stream title by looking back through previous pages a users has visited.
