View Full Version : Is there a quality loss in webradio recordings ?

Webradios use various audio formats like MP3 or flv. Some also jam the signal sent to the computer for example by cutting the music into pieces and coding it. But at some point the music is always reconstituted because it must be played on the computer. This is probably why Applian products are often able to record it anyhow. But I wonder if in theory there is a quality loss in the recording with regard to the original signal. Thanks for your replies.

Depends on how you are recording. When you record using stream capture it is the native stream at the native format and quality.

OK and if I'm just using the record audio button on the freecorder 4 toolbar, it's not a stream capture ?

It just record audio from your sound card.

You can try to use Replay Media Catcher and Replay AV. Both programs can download radio streams as well as record them from your sound card.
