View Full Version : Hulu capture - playback is jerky

I'm using Replay video capture to capture Hulu.

A few observations:

1) The Get Window only seems to grab the larger Hulu window (meaning you get the black bars on the left and right sides where the Hulu options are). I don't see a way around this (possibly full screen?)

2) Playback of the capture is jerky. Audio sounds fine, but it's like every X frames get dropped or something. Hulu video is/was fine. I'm using the defaults which seem to be MPEG2 and 20 fps. I've tried 30 fps and no difference. Video bitrate is 3000kbps. I have an AMD Phenom II triple core CPU, 4GB RAM, Windows XP, Nvidia Geforce 9600 PCI Express video card with 512 MB RAM, and a Creative Labs XiFi sound card. All drivers are to the latest released updates (no beta drivers).

I'm using Windows Media player to view the playback.

Any suggestions for tweaking the settings for smoother playback?

--whoops, I should probably post this in the video capture forum. Sorry.

Use the markers to adjust the window size. The smaller the window the better your recording is actually going to be. Also, try windows media to see if it makes a difference

I got the markers resized, thank you.

Playback is still a little jerky. Tried various formats to no avail. Audio is smooth, just the video "skips" every 5-10 seconds. Almost like as if the data was written to the hard drive in "chunks" and that causes the skipping.

Make sure you limit your use of the computer. It could be that you need to adjust your hardware acceleration. Read about that in the settings of the program. Also, did you try using windows media format? If not give that a try.

EDIT:
Hi, I´m new here and I´ve got new technical experience:
I found out that my playback also is jerky when recording from Internet Explorer. With Firefox, everthing is ok.

Best,
Martin
