View Full Version : Audio but no video

I have a registered copy of Replay Converter. I downloaded the windows-all-20060501.zip codec file and unzipped it into Replay AV8 directory as instructed.

I recorded a streaming video with Replay AV8 which resulted in an .asf file. I tried to convert it to an .mpg and also an .avi file without success.

The resulting .mpg file has audio only, no video.

The resulting .avi file has audio only, no video.

I attempted each numerous times and followed the directions in the User Guide to the letter.

I tried to convert the .asf file using another utility and got an error message that there was no video stream. I was able to play the .asf file with Windows Media Player successfully.

What is wrong?

Hi WRG,

If you don't mind, I'd like you to try something for me please, I'm HOPING this will resolve your issue, but if it does not we'll certainly look into it further for you:

Please try changing the direct show settings for the type of file that you are converting from. Here’s how to do this in Replay Converter 2.80.

1.Click on Options.

2.If your conversion is a video file, click on the “Video Conversion Options” button. If your conversion is an audio only file click on the Audio Conversions Options button.

3.In the Direct Show options dialog box that opens next, find the file format of the original file that you are converting FROM. If Direct Show for that format is not checked, please check it. If it is already checked, then please uncheck it. If you are unable to find the format of the original file you are converting in the options, then either check or uncheck the "Other" check box.

4.Try your conversion again.

If this still does NOT work, you may need to submit a ticket to Tech Support. If you do, please attach your LOG file. The log file will show us all your activity for that day/session and allow us to see exactly what is happening, and hopefully help you resolve the issue as well.
Here are some instructions if you should need help in locating the log:

Thank you. I followed your instructions exactly and the result was an audio only file. No video. I was able to use Microsoft Movie Maker to convert the file to a .wmv but that is not what I purchased the Replay suite for. I filed a trouble report with tech support. I hope to have a solution soon, otherwise, I will return the entire suite for a refund. I am very disappointed!:(

Well I'm having the same problem. I even tried using the 3.0 beta version. I'm getting errors in the log from my last conversion.

My input is a recording by At-Large Recorder. This does not reflect on Applian very well.

okay I have removed the direct show settings and now I get video but only about 1 frame every 8-10 seconds. I have setup of the at-large recorder to run at 8000k 30 frames and 30 I frames but the convert will not convert these to any format. Help?

I think Applian has a BIG problem with this program and with Replay AV. I also use ******** Video Converter and it works with no problems at all, ever! EXCEPT it will not recognize the .asf file created by Replay AV. That is the only file ******** has EVER had a problem with.

As a matter of fact, nothing will recognize the .asf file created by Replay AV except Windows Media Player and Windows Movie Maker. Movie Maker did encode the .asf file as a .wmv which I then converted to a DVD folder for burning.

I only bought this suite of programs to get a streaming recorder. It seems as if Replay AV does the streaming record bit sort of ok but their other items in the Suite are not so hot.

I will give them another 24 hours to respond to my support request, then it's "Refund My Money" time!

Hi

Please let us know in tech support if you are having a major issue with a program. We are there to help. Also, FYI, we are working on a new Converter now and it is awesome and really fast. We hope to release the BETA version of this by the end of next week.

It will also work great with Real Player 11 while our other one does conflict with Real Player 11.

I am patiently awaiting response to Ticket ID: 550DD7. But I wonder what the problem with the .asf file created by Replay AV is? Nothing but Media Player will recognize it. I have a dozen or more video players and all report it as an invalid file. Are all Replay Streaming Video files captured as .asf?

Hi Wrg, I responded to your support request a few hours ago just after you submitted it. Please check your junk mail/spam folder for the reply.

I followed your instructions in your support request response and attempted to convert to .avi and resulted in audio with no video. I have responded with requested log. I tried again after I sent you the log, by selecting .wmv format and the result is the same. Audio no video. I tried to convert the .wmv file with VSO Convert XtoDVD and of course it failed as there is no video stream and I tried to convert the .avi file with VSO Convert XtoDVD and it failed as well as there is no video stream. Video players, Windows Media Player, VLC Player, ATI Media Player and Media Player Classic display a black screen and play audio only. DIVX Player reports: This file does not appear to contain a video track. I did use Windows Movie Maker and sucessfully create a .wmv file from the .asf file created by Replay AV.

Hi

try our new Replay Converter. It is currently used as a standalone but in testing it is awesome. We just posted it late yesterday so give it a try and see how it works for you.

I had been considering buying Replay Converter but have the same problem when conveting an ASF (from at-large-recorder 2) to Ipod. Tried this beta version and now get VIDEO and AUDIO, but the video frame only refreshes about every 8 seconds.

Won't buy til I know it works.
