On this page there are links to 5 movies altogether. 4 titles with one a two-part. But when I try to capture, I can get only three of them. Any ideas.

I am using XP64 and sware iron.

I had better luck with direct links to the files. A right-click then Save As... should work to save the videos to disk using these URLs.

You'll need something like Quicktime or VLC (http://www.videolan.org) to view the videos.

"Save As" is not among my context menu choices. I don't get it. I use Sware Iron, and sometimes IE. But neither's flash player offers that option. What am I missing?

Also how did you get those URLs? If I had those I could have used my capture software, but they seemed hidden to me, unless the capture worked, but it didn't for two of movies, so ??

From this page in the forums, where you are reading this right now... you don't need to visit the HBO site or use Flash Player or Sware.

Just scroll up to my earlier post. For this particular set of videos you won't need to use RMC. It was my difficulty getting the videos' proper links for the browser to use RMC that I just went a different route and posted the direct link to videos.

Right-click one of the URLs I posted and choose "Save Target as..." or "Save link target as..." and save the m4v video file to your PC, the Desktop for example. Then open it in some media player like Quicktime or VLC or maybe, but probably not, Windows Media Player.

These will be nice quality 600x388 H.264/AAC videos.

Aside: I just padded out to 640x360 [boxed by black +right 16 +left 24 +top 6 +bottom 16] for easy converting.

There are a variety of URLSnooper 's but I usually just view the source of the page. Somewhere I found this pretty quickly IIRC. HBO is good for this. I snagged the Showtime Edie Falco as "Nurse Jackie" preview snooping this way too.

Once I found the XML file (http://www.hbo.com/alzheimers/flash/xml/definition.xml) I opened it in XMLNotepad (http://www.codeplex.com/xmlnotepad) and culled the video_location node.

Thanks for filling me in. I'm a greenhorn at this. I don't even want to tell you what I did to get those movies for my boss. Well, I watched them and watched the timer at the same time. Each time the timer got down to about 3 seconds left, I paused the viewer. Then I powered my computer down by switching off the power supply. When I restarted, my temp folder had a large file that I renamed to have an .mvs or .mv4 or some such extension that would play in quicktime. It worked, but what a pita. :D If it let the timer go to zero the temp file got deleted. Quick!

Needless to say, I'll try it your way next time... :o
