View Full Version : Can't skip ahead in recorded live Justin.tv broadcasts

When I record something live on Justin TV and try to watch it later on the FLV Player, I can't skip around on the file. The player says "unknown duration" and when I click info it says: "Can Seek to End? No".
This is pretty annoying since I am recording Japanese Baseball games that are three hours long and I would love to skip commercials and other superfluous stuff.
Is there a workaround that I am just missing? Perhaps a better FLV player?
Any help would be appreciated.

Live streaming videos, by nature, do not have timecode metadata encoded into the flv.
Sometimes, SMPlayer can seek/skip flv files that don't have flv metadata:
http://smplayer.berlios.de/
Or, you can try injecting timecode metadata into the saved flv file by using a FLV MetaData Injector such as FLVMDI/FLVMDIGUI:
http://www.buraks.com/flvmdi/
However, FLVMDI/FLVMDIGUI is limited to file sizes of less than 700mb, and also sometimes will not work if the stream wasn't saved perfectly (absent any interruptions or hiccups in the video/audio)

Oh, now I get it. Maybe that's the reason why whenever I would try to skip a particular timeline, nothing happens. It's really called "live stream" because there are no playbacks or rewind. Lolz. But it makes sense. Thanks a lot for posting. Are there screen shots too? screen shots will help our fellow members to get an idea of what you mean. Thanks.

If I try to watch the recording while it is beeing recorded with RMC 4, I have a problem fast forwarding. However when the recording is finished, it is fixed and I don't see any problem fast forwarding and rewinding.

Hi there,
I would LOVE to be able record Justin.tv for 3 hours, my Media Catcher keeps stopping and needs Justin to be refreshed before it starts again.
Are there some settings that I might have to change?
(I am a registered user)
Regards,
Paul
