View Full Version : Bug or error in final save of file

I often see this error message (in the properties) from the Capture Flash RTMP streams plugin after downloading a file:

"Unable to save RTMP stream in proper format!
Does the file already exist in storage directory?"

The file downloads and plays fine (after I add the flv extension), it isn't clipped or damaged in any way. But after RMC fails to get a meaningful file name, it puts up the red exclamation point, and leaves the file without an extension. I have to go to windows and manually name the file and add an extension.

This is just a nuisance, really, but I'd rather not have to deal with it. At least put the extension on the file name so it can be played.

Hi,

I am seeing that as well. If i wait until the exclamation mark the file seems to have been deleted which is even more of a nuisance.

What version of Media Catcher are you using? What site does this happen on?

Hi sorry for the long delay in replying.

A typical example is the BBC Radio 4 program "in our time"

I am using 3.01 replay media catcher Sept. 12 2008

The name as it appears while recording seems to be

"RBN2_radio_4_fm_-_thursday_0900_b00|16q8_2009_06_18_09_00_30_31B754 CF"

During the download there is the usual target and green arrow to the left of the name

If i select stop and save i get the exclamation mark and the transfer property box says "Unable to save RTMP stream in proper format! Does the file already exist in the storage directory?"

That is the same result that I get if I let it run to the end.

The target file name is as above. The rename box is disabled so I cannot rename it.

Updating to the latest version will correct this error. UNinstall the previous version and reboot, then install 3.02.
