I was able to capture YouTube videos right away after installing version 5, but not now. I did leave version 4 on my machine, which I'm glad about right now, as it still works. But is having version 4 still on the machine causing the problem? On the other hand, people seem to be having problems with version 5 not capturing even though they have uninstalled version 4 before installing version 5. Any suggestions or solutions?

Found the same and although not ideal I have found that if I refresh the page with the wanted content, RMC records on reload of the page and item.

First version 5 update (5.0.0.89 2013-05-09) makes a little improvement. Now some YouTube videos record, but MUCH slower than last update of version 4.

Many YouTube videos do not record under any circumstances. Page refresh rarely if ever works for me.

Like others, I'm glad I kept version 4 in play.

Frankly, the new vsn 5 interface is not all that nice, compared to the very functional and familiar version 4. I really think this falls into the category of "If it isn't broken, don't fix it!"

Back to the drawing board, Jaksta/Applian!

Unfortunately RMC5 is definitely not ready for Prime Time. As I mentioned in a previous post that can be found here: https://forum.applian.com/showthread.php?11164-Event-Log-Warning-With-Replay-Media-Catcher-5.0.0.88 RMC5 can actually damage your registry. I expect that sooner or later Applian will fix the bugs in RMC5. They always do. :o

Unfortunately Youtube has changed the way they are streaming their media and Replay Media Catcher 4 does not support the mp4 files.

Our developers has released Replay Media Catcher 5 that has fixed this issue. Please feel free to try Replay Media Catcher 5:
http://applian.com/replay-media-catcher/demo.php

You can also download via the following methods:

1. Internet > Manual Download. Enter the youtube watch page url (eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpOR_HuHRNs) and select YouTube Video Page
2. Search for and download the video in the built in YouTube guide.

Also, here are some great tutorials on Replay Media Catcher5: http://applian.com/support-videos.php#RCAT5

A feature I miss from RMC 4 not in RMC 5 is that when minimized RMC 4 use to flash in the task bar, thus letting me know that the download had begun, without having to leave the current page.

How do I make RMC 5 always download the highest quality file on a YouTube page?

With RMC 4 I could add &hd=1 to the end of the URL, but that doesn't work with RMC 5 - it always downloads a low quality FLV no matter what I do.

I have the same. No YouTube recording. Just upgraded from 4 to 5 and am very dissatisfied. I kept version 4 installed, thank god, so I am still able to record, but 5 at this moment is useless to me

Please try and uninstall all of Replay Media Catcher 5 and the network monitors that you see in your control panel - winpcap and applian network driver and reboot. Then during the installation, please use the "recommended" installation and reboot.
Please download from the link: http://applian.com/replay-media-catcher/demo.php

I agree totally.
RMC5 is truly not an improvement.
Seems it hadn't been tested properly (or at all...??).
Encountering too many problems. Very sloppy.
I'm a long time Applian fan and have all their software.
RMC5 is quite disappointing, at the least.

How long will it take the programmers to "dance" again perfectly with YouTube again?
RMC5 is not an improvement.

Decided to try version 5. Of course I've had 4 for less than 3 months but oh well. Like many others, no YouTube. Well, almost no. If I use the built in 'guide' it will download those videos, but through the internet? Nada. I'll stick with 4 for now,

An update: RMC works recording using Chrome, but does not seem to recognize Firefox at all.

Try clearing your browser cache in Firefox and try again :)

the version 5.0.0.89 did not work for me, but the new version 5.0.0.94 is now recording YouTube-videos automatically :)... unfortunately only if I'm watching the videos directly on the YT-site in my browser.:(
If I'm watching a youtube-video embedded in any other website, the video will not be recorded ! :(
Should not there something be fixed regarding YouTube detection around embedded videos with the new version ? But it does not work for me !

Can't record from youtube either.

We're working on an update now to help with the youtube issues - youtube changed the way they stream their videos and it's currently a priority for us to update RMC on this end :)

I'm having similar issues...I used to be able to record games from cox7.com with 3.11 verion
With 4 installed as well since 4 wouldn't record those streams but since upgrading from 4 to 5 and
Leaving 3.11 on my comp it now won't record the games like before :-(

I am having same problems also except it is not just youtubes but I can't record any videos whatsoever from a browser no matter what the site...I have done the following:

made sure that RMC5 is loaded first and that recording is on

all cache in browser is cleared

browsed to many different sites that have video ( even my own site which I put a test video on )

tried various browsers

uninstalled all monitor drivers as well as RMC5 and reinstalled ( no installation problems )

rebooted computer

RMC5 still does not record any videos ( no matter what site the video is on ) through the browser

The only time I can record a video is through the guides

Any other ideas on what to try?

BTW...I do have the most recent version installed ( 5.0.0.96 )

Hey -

YouTube has been changing things left right and center for the last few months. 0.96 however supports their new adaptive protocol which appears to be their native streaming protocol now.

You need to change from Page mode to Raw mode in the settings > internet > http adv. > youtube download method. Its strange because (at the time of posting) page view (the default in 0.96) worked for all normal yt videos but failed for all yt music videos.

Anyway in Raw YT mode you can currently download any YT video and not worry about whether your watching a music video or a "normal" video.

As to why your not able to download anything at all - My guess is that your not monitoring the network card that your computer is speaking to over the internet.

Check your settings - Internet > Monitor. If your using Winpcap then ensure the adapter your computer is speaking to the internet over is correctly selected. If you think it is all ok then lodge a support request and one of the guys will help you figure it out.

I reminder though that if you are trying to access a page via https - then RMC cant see it - its encrypted - just like your bank details are when you go to your internet banking. Change the https to http. Youtube does do this sometimes.

Having much better luck with Firefox now.
