Redording plays and such from BBC radio 4 and radio 7

I thought I had recorded a play from these Radio Stations and the names of the programmes appeared in my MP3 player - but the file lasted seconds and contained nothing - is that because these programmes are Right Protected? If I buy the Applian Software will it record these programmes for me - does anyone know?
