Lost audio

I have a small .avi that I removed a middle section from. The video section was indeed removed, but from that point forward the audio was also removed clear to the end of the video. Why?

After the first edit the sound goes away for rest of clip. I am testing a demo of the product on a 60 second clip so should not be having any issues? Using an .asf file created by At-Large recorder 2 (full/paid for version).
