playback is Skippy/choppy

everything records okay but when I go to play it back it is skippy/choppy. If I adjust the speed it just changes the speed of the Skippy/ choppy. Does anyone have any suggestions? another unrelated question is there a way to make the program automatically schedule to record a streaming radio program. Thanks
