Records into asf file that won't play

Finished recording is in asf format and won't play in WMP or anything else. How do I play it? I even tried converting it to no avail.

If the original file won't play then converting it won't work either. In all probability the original file has something wrong with it. If you continue to have a problem please contact tech support for more detailed information regarding this issue. Thanks.

I am recording a live stream and it always records it as an asf file that won't play...(I've done this several times) any suggestions? Or does the program not record and save live videos?
